October might be a special month for some people because of Halloween, nut it can be special for everyone because of one thing: Horror Movies and TV shows. Not everyone celebrates the spooky tradition, but everyone can watch scary movies that are always on TV this time of the year. There are countless things to choose from, but which one should you watch?

Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Nickelodeon’s 3-part reboot of the 90s TV show is something that definitely isn’t terrifying, but it is creepy enough to give you the chills occasionally. The limited series focuses on a girl named Rachel who joins the Midnight Society, a group of teens that gather at Midnight to tell scary stories. Rachel has to tell a bone-chilling story to join the club, but her story ends up becoming true. The Midnight Society is a fun group to watch, and the spooky story is really intriguing, involving missing children, creepy carnivals and clowns, and scorpions, too. Are You Afraid of the Dark? is one of the most refreshing and spooky things to watch this October.

Creeped Out
The Twilight Zone, Goosebumps, and R.L. Stine are all horror anthology series, with
different characters and stories every episode. Netflix just released the second season of their shot at the genre, Creeped Out. Every episode begins and ends with an appearance from The Curious, a mysterious story collector who wears a mask. With every episode taking place in different times and places, there are limitless possibilities and opportunities for you to be frightened.

The Joker
While labeled as a Drama/Thriller film, The Joker’s protagonist is a villain, and the film

is described as a “psychological thriller”. This means the viewer might leave the theater shocked questioning their ideals and beliefs when they leave the theater. While that’s not necessarily a negative thing, it can be scary to know that a film challenges the norm. The Joker also resembles a clown, which is a Halloween icon.

Hocus Pocus
Arguably the most iconic Halloween movie of all time, this classic is a must-watch. When three evil witches are freed, three kids(two teenagers and a sister) and a magical black cat must work together to steal the witches’ spellbook to stop them from becoming immortal. This movie happens to have 33% on Rotten Tomatoes for being too silly and no fun, but that’s definitely up to the viewer. It’s something that is always being reran on Freeform during October, so there’s no way to miss it.

Any Halloween Themed Episode of Your Favorite TV Show

This isn’t any specific movie or TV show, but rather justa reminder. Most TV shows have special spooky episodes this time of year. If you have a series that you just adore but it finished a while ago, it is bound to have a least one horror-themed episode. Gravity Falls’s Summerween, Avatar: The Last Airbender’s The Puppetmaster, and the whole of Stranger Things 2 are just some parts of beloved shows that are just asking to be re watched.
