As of September 22, 2024, it is officially fall in the Northern Hemisphere! Although it doesn’t quite feel that way yet with our weather here in Southern California, soon it will be time to pull out our knitted sweaters and everything pumpkin spice. A way that many people in my life, including me, celebrate this changing of the seasons is by restarting the 2000s comedy-drama, Gilmore Girls.
Although throughout the show the characters go through all 4 seasons of the year, the show has become infamous for its cozy autumn feel no matter what episode you’re on. The Gilmore girls are known for their excessive coffee drinking, and what better time of year than fall to grab a hot cup of coffee? The show provides a sense of calm and comfort that is the perfect entertainment for this chilly time of year.
Since I was a Freshman in high school, my favorite thing to do after a long day of school has been to make a hot drink and lie down with my cats to watch an episode of Gilmore Girls. The experience of watching the show is only amplified and enjoyable when the weather is gloomy and there’s a pumpkin spice-scented candle lit somewhere nearby. Some of my favorite episodes of the show that are set during the months of fall are:
Season 1, Episode 5: Cinnamon’s Wake
Season 1, Episode 6: Rory’s Birthday Parties
Season 2, Episode 4: Road Trip to Harvard
Season 2, Episode 8: The Ins & Outs of Inns
Season 3, Episode 7: They shoot Gilmores, don’t they?
Season 3, Episode 8: Let the Games Begin
Season 3, Episode 9: A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving
Season 4, Episode 6: An Affair to Remember
Season 5, Episode 7: You Jump, I Jump Jack
One of these episodes and a hot pumpkin spice latte is the recipe for a perfect fall day, and as the temperature drops and we approach the end of September, it is something that I know for sure I will be partaking in the next couple of weeks.
