Do you want to be able to get involved in our school and our clubs? There are so many clubs to help you get engaged including Key Club, Canyon Interact, and more. These types of clubs allow students to give back to their school and maybe even their community and offer service hours to serve those in need and make a positive change. Anyone can open a club, and here is one of the more recent clubs available for you to join and become part of.
This year, Operation Smile Club is a new club founded by Marley Kullman (10) and Rana Noqul (10). The point of Operation Smile Club is “To raise money for kids with cleft lips and pallets. We also will make bracelets and other things so they can feel more comforted during their surgeries” according to Marley Kullman (10), president of the club. We also spoke with Marley about why she started this club. “I started this club because I wanted to get involved in my community and to help people and I thought it was a great opportunity to share kindness with other people.” As a person on the board of this club, I am really excited to be in this club and to be able to help even one kid in need. Bringing the campus together is a great way to make a difference. With more people helping, greater changes can definitely be accomplished.
Additionally, we asked Marley how anyone on campus could join the club to be part of the change. “You can find us at @/operationsmileclubchs or by joining our Remind (@smile4chs).” She also shared “We are looking forward to seeing you all!”
Overall, Operation Smile Club is a great club because it inspires people to make a difference even if it’s not a super drastic change it can still help so many people in need. We have a lot of clubs that involve volunteering but Operation Smile Club is unique because of the thoughtfulness behind it and the fact that many people struggle with money and may really need the surgery to live their daily lives.
