Despite not getting snow or winter weather in Southern California, there are still many things we can do this winter season in order to get into the holiday spirit. Here are some local events going on that you can visit with family or friends.
There is currently a festival going on in Riverside called the Festival of Lights, where the entire Mission Inn Hotel & Spa is decorated in seasonal lights, along with vendors and various boutiques where you can do your holiday shopping! Tickets are free and you can go any time between November 23rd and January 6th and tickets are free! It is a great inexpensive option and is very kids and family-friendly, and is a beautiful experience!
Another great opportunity to see holiday lights is at the East Lake community in Yorba Linda, where there are displays not only on the houses but also on the boats of the lake! It is a great and nonformal activity that is applicable to all ages and all people. It is a residential neighborhood, so if you go make sure to be respectful to the homeowners and their properties! Take a cup of hot chocolate and prepare to walk around and make great memories!
Another great memory-building activity is going to visit the Polar Express train in Perris! You can ride aboard a real-life Polar Express train where the scene of the movie is recreated for you! It is a great nostalgic experience and always ensures a good time! Tickets are available through December 31st, and it is a great and fulfilling experience that is perfect to end the year with.
Another local and family-friendly experience is at Tanaka Farm in Irvine! They offer an after-dark wagon ride and walk-through of their property! In addition to the holiday decorations, you are able to experience a petting zoo, games, and crafts offered. Tickets are available through December 29, except for on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
There are many other opportunities and alternatives to make great memories this holiday season, but hopefully, these offer you a good experience! Happy Holidays!
