Tate McRae is an award-winning generational talent with her strong stage presence, amazing dance skills, and mature song writing. The “Miss Possessive” Tour perfectly depicted her extraordinary artistic identity. She sold out the Kia Forum for all three nights, and it was for sure well deserved. Her confidence and unique performing skills made the concert very memorable and a wonderful night.
The night started out with Zara Larson opening the show around 7pm. She played some of her top hits, one being “Symphony” which was very popular last year, along with songs from her new album that had dropped that same day! Her energy and looks are very similar to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera’s, and she is overall a very entertaining artist.
Around 8:45pm, Tate came out and opened with “Miss Possessive.” Within the first minute of her performance, she was already doing crazy tricks and impressive choreography while singing! She maintained this energetic vibe for the first half hour of the show performing her more upbeat songs such as “2 hands” and “guilty conscience.” Her stamina and her confidence in her singing and dancing is so impressive and was a perfect opening to the show.
For the next part of the show, Tate went to the piano and sang some of her original songs she made for her “Create With Tate” Youtube account from when she was in middle school. These were surprise songs that she sang exclusively for her Los Angeles shows, which I loved being a part of. These songs were full of emotion and sentiment, and it was fun to just belt out to them.
After that, she went offstage and her amazing dancers came on and improvised. These genuinely were the most talented backup dancers I’ve ever seen, and I liked that I got to focus on just them because they are so incredible. Then, Tate came on with a new costume and sang her new single called “Tit for Tat” which had just come out that same day. Hearing it for the first time live was such an exciting experience, and I can’t believe I was one of the first people to watch it in person.
The encore was my three favorite Tate songs, which are “Sports Car,” “Just Keep Watching,” and “Greedy.” I loved the lineup of songs overall, and I think that this was the perfect ending to the concert. I didn’t want it to end! I cannot recommend the “Miss Possessive” tour enough, and I am so grateful I got to experience it.
