Met Gala Ball 2018 Review
May 23, 2018
Met Gala started in 1948, where it was just a dinner that people could attend for $50. This was the 73rd year of the event as well. Every year, the ball takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City. It is the museum’s biggest fundraising event of the year. Many celebrities come to this event and celebrate the theme of the Costume institute. This year, the theme for the Met Gala is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and Catholic of Imagination. Most of the celebrities stayed true to the theme and became works of art. Pop singer Madonna gave a surprise performance of “Hallelujah” and “Like a Prayer,” while wearing a stunning cloak. Her performance did not disappoint in the slightest
means. R&B singer Rihanna walked down the hall wearing a pearl encrusted dress that blew everyone away. Rapper Cardi B showed up wearing a pearl gown and headpiece and had the crowd going wild. Actress Cara Delevingne shows off her looks by wearing a fishnet Dior gown.
There were many other celebrities that attended the event, such as Nicki Minaj, Childish Gambino, Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid and many more, who looked as splendid as ever. The tickets were at a price of $30,000 each, but all of the sales goes towards the Institute. The Institute needs this because it is the only Met department that has to fund itself. Last year, $12 million was raised. Over 550 people attended Met Gala and it was the biggest exhibition the institute has created. Hopefully, next year’s Met Gala will be amazing as ever.
