Unusual Pets

A lot of people own unusual pets, even some celebrities. Here are a couple of highlights!
The first unusual pet is a Moluccan Cockatoo, which is a type of parrot. It has a scheduled breakfast and dinner at the same time as its owner. The Moluccan Cockatoo eats vegetables, fruit, walnuts, and any orange foods, like carrots and oranges. When they are in the wild they eat small insects. They eat with their feet. The Moluccan Cockatoo (pictured) is 12 years old right now and can live to be 80. She is a rescue parrot and her current owner is her third owner. They are the loudest parrot on the planet, getting up to 135 to 145 decimals; these parrots are almost as loud as a jumbo jet. Unfortunately, they are currently on the endangered list.
Former boxing champion Mike Tyson used to own Royal Bengal Tigers. Not many people have a pet tiger, but Mike Tyson owned three. One of them appeared in the movie “The Hangover” in 2009. The tigers cost $100,000 and they weighed between 300 and 400 pounds. Tigers are carnivores so they prefer to hunt large ungulates. Unfortunately, Tyson did not have the proper license to own a tiger, so they were taken from him and sent to a
shelter in Colorado.
Actress Reese Witherspoon owns two pet donkeys. Their names are Honkey and Tonkey. She has many other pets: two pigs, three goats, 20 chickens, three dogs, and a pony. She got these donkeys because her friend had some donkeys and she loved them so much, she got her own. Donkeys eat high fiber and low fiber hay. It is important to watch their weight and make sure they are healthy.
