Why the Colts Could Beat the Chiefs
January 15, 2019
Andrew Luck, who came off of an injury this year, has been playing what might be the best year of his career, throwing for 39 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, and obtaining a rating of 98.7, all while completing 67 percent of his passes. One thing to remember is that he was hurt all last season, so to come back and put up those numbers is unheard of. As the leader of the team, Luck said “It means we got another one next week and that’s what excites me.”
The other star of the Colts’ offense is somebody who seems to have appeared out of thin air. This season, Marlon Mack ran for 908 yards on 195 attempts. He was just short of 1,000 yards rushing, but did reach it in all purpose yards with 103 receiving yards. However, it wasn’t until the wildcard game against the Texans where he really showed everyone what he could do. Mack ran for 148 yards on 24 attempts. He was the key to beating the Texans because his run game opened up the passing game. If Mack can continue to grow and develop as a player, he could be a top 5 running in the league.
If the Colts really want to beat the Chiefs in their next game, they’ll have to give it their all, as the Chiefs are probably the best team in the NFL. Still, the Chiefs have a weakness: defense. The Chiefs defense is ranked 31st against passing and 27th against the run. Keep in mind, there are only 32 teams in the NFL. So if the Colts offense is clicking, the score could possibly be around 24-21, in favor of the Colts.
