Looking back on 2018 and its popular games, it is time to choose the video game that really made 2018 incredible. Nominees for the game of the year were released, and if you don’t know what the game of the year is, just think of the Oscars, but for video games. The nominees are: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Celeste, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Monster Hunter: World and Red Dead Redemption 2. These are all good games, but who will win game of the year? God of War takes the prize for this category.

The next award is “Best Ongoing Game,” which means games that came out a few years ago that may have not launched greatly, but have since improved through updates. The nominees for this category are: Destiny 2: Forsaken, Fortnite, No Man’s Sky, Overwatch, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Let me just say what we are all thinking: Fortnite is the clear winner.

Most of the other awards are generic genre awards like, “Best Action Games” or “Best Action Adventure Games.” The nominees for these genres are the same as the ones for game of the year, and chances are that the game of the year nominees are probably going to win the genre awards.

The last game that’s worth talking about is the Best Mobile Game award, which is odd since most people don’t consider mobile games to be video games. In any case, the award is still an important one. The winner for this category was Florence, an interactive story and video game.
