The game was very exciting as most of California tuned in to watch the hometown heroes take on the Saints.

Early on in the game, it appeared Drew Brees and the Saints were going to the put the game away with two 1st quarter field goals, but somehow the Rams managed to rebound, even after the early interception.

Todd Gurley was not getting anything done on offense with 4 carries for a measly 10 yards, so it was time for Jared Goff to step it up and show that he’s not just a system quarterback. Goff managed to lead the unmotivated Rams to score 10 points in the second quarter while the defense held the Saints to 0 points in the 2nd. After halftime, the 3rd quarter began where both teams were able to reach the end zone once. The score was then 17-20 with the Saints on top, but all the drama happened in the 4th quarter.

The Rams had the ball and kicked a field goal to tie it up, making it 20-20, but then came the drive with the now infamous “no call.” The saints drove down the field and got into the red zone. A touchdown would most likely seal the deal, but Brees threw it out to one of his receivers and got completely blown up before he had a chance at the ball. No penalty was called on the third down play, deeming it the infamous “no call.”

The Saints were then forced to kick a field goal and give the Rams the ball back with little time left on the clock.

The Rams drove down the field and kicked the tying field goal to send them to overtime.

In overtime, the Saints won the toss and got the ball. The Saints now had a chance to end the game with a touchdown when Brees threw it up, but instead it got intercepted by John Johnson of the Rams. The Rams appeared to have a chance to win, but get stopped around the 40 yard line. They then risked it all and took a 57 yard field goal. Despite being a great kicker, Greg Zuerlein faced a very challenging kick as 57 yards is a long field goal. However, Zuerlein went for the kick and drilled it. With a field goal in overtime, the Rams made the score 26-23 and concluded the game that secured them one of two spots to the Super Bowl.
