Easter Activities/DIY
May 7, 2019
Easter has now come and gone. If you find yourself buried with leftover Easter supplies, or you simply bought every last peep that was on sale at target, here are a few DIYs you can do to put those supplies to good use.
1. Gift Baskets
There are people with good intentions in mind and kindness in their hearts. They can prepare a gift basket for people who are special to them. The gift baskets can have items like candy, gift cards, and miniature toys. Children can decorate their baskets with their creativity. According to Family Education, “this teaches kids to perform gratitude and kindness towards others.”
2. Treat Rope
Some people have a weakness for food. How does one ensnare a person with food and a game? Gather treats that have a hole in the center, slide a rope through them, and you have a game of the treat rope. As Playtivities stated, you “tie a rope between two trees (or let two people hold it). String some donuts or cookies (or any other sweet treat that has a hole) onto the rope. Make sure the rope is above kids’ mouth level. If adults playing, let them adjust.” Now, that is one sweet game.
3. Peeps Sunflower Cake
If one is skilled with baking, they can make something delicious for the kids and family. One of the treats they could bake is a Peeps Sunflower Cake. Taste of Home listed what the person would need:
- 1 yellow cake mix (regular size)
- 2 cans (16 ounces each) chocolate frosting
- 19 to 20 yellow chick Peeps candy
- 1-½ cups semisweet chocolate chips (assorted sizes)
First, prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions, using two parchment paper-lined and greased 9-in. round baking pans. Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to wire racks; remove paper. Cool completely.
Next, if cake layers have rounded tops, trim with a long serrated knife to make level. Spread frosting between layers and over the top and sides of cake.
Lastly, for petals, arrange Peeps around the edge of cake, curving slightly and being careful not to separate the chicks. For sunflower seeds, arrange chocolate chips in the center of the cake.
Easter allows for variety of fun. Go and celebrate the holiday with your family and special loved ones. Grab a friend or two and before you know it, you and your friends will have a blast!
