FaceMasks – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
September 18, 2020
With COVID-19 making itself present in our daily news, it is important that face masks are worn in public settings to guarantee safety around others. While this requirement may be tedious and frustrating for some, many variations of these coverings have surfaced, in attempts to add excitement rather than annoyance to this recent obligation. Pictured on the bottom right is an example of the ideal face mask worn day to day by most people. Although this specific face covering provides the same amount of protection as any other mask, it can appear as very uninteresting to the creative-minded. On the left is an example of a more intriguing, eye catching mask.
In order to
keep spirits up during the pandemic, businesses are trying to find small ways to shed light and positivity into safety procedures by making them enjoyable. In addition, businesses also need to maintain their income due to the recent recession as a result of the pandemic. For example, brands are going the extra mile to make “fashionable face masks.” A brand by the name of Kitsch has severely profited from this new product. Three piece mask sets with exclusive patterns and designsare sold by their brand and can be found in Ulta stores as well as sold online on Etsy, Poshmark, and Amazon. These various colors and designs are shown in the image below.
Although wearing face coverings is seen as a dreaded task by many, it is important to acknowledge the effort made by business owners to increase the style and comfortability for the customers. Face coverings have proven to be very effective and useful in the prevention of disease and showcase the personal choice to ensure the safety of others. As long as we’re required to wear face coverings in daily outings, we may as well be fashionable.
