Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks?

A quick and controversial discussion about the best coffee shop.

The topic of who’s the best coffee shop has been going on for years, but two companies bring the most attention – Starbucks, and Dunkin’ Donuts. As a consumer of both these shops for a long time, I  feel as if I can give an unbiased and accurate opinion. Now, many students at Canyon High choose these drinks to indulge in before class, so time to figure out which is best. For the most part, Starbucks is the bigger corporation, but that doesn’t mean they’re the best. Their drinks are top-notch but can get pricey really easily. Another downside to the Starbucks menu is that anything with ice in it is most likely to finish quickly. This is because, Starbucks likes to use a lot of ice in their drinks, meaning you’re not really getting what you paid for. Although, the same can be said for Dunkin’ Donuts. They also use a great amount of ice in their drinks as well, but it’s proven that their sizes are ultimately bigger, so it makes up for it. Another major difference between the two is their food options. Dunkin’ has more freshly made food, plus donuts. They make sandwiches, snacks, and a variety of fresh things to choose from to munch on. This is one big advantage Dunkin’ has over Starbucks. Sure Starbucks does have their sandwiches and snacks, but these are all heated and not made fresh. Not to mention they’re also very expensive. From personal experience, I’ve received a sandwich with almost nothing in it, just bread. The last and major deal breaker for me between these two is accessibility. There are over 3,000 Starbucks alone in California and just 1,000 Dunkin’ Donuts. When I’m looking for the nearest coffee shop, I’m not trying to drive for 10 minutes. You can look at almost any corner, and there is a Starbucks. This is mainly why Starbucks wins it for me – because time spent on gas is more than my drink.
