Rising pop star Gracie Abrams released her highly anticipated second studio album, The Secret of Us on June 21st, 2024. 2 months after its release, she has started her tour for the album this month in Portland, Oregon.
Over the past few years, Abrams has gained recognition for her deep songwriting and uniquely captivating voice. Her critically acclaimed sophomore album has solidified her place as a pop artist that is here to stay. After opening for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, her career began to explode, leading to her nomination of Best New Artist at both the VMAS and the Grammys. This has caused Abrams to play much larger venues on her new tour, as more people tune into her music. Last year, her Good Riddance Tour took place in smaller, standing venues. She played two nights at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, with a total of 2,400 in attendance, as compared to selling out three nights this year at the Greek Theatre’s 5,900-capacity amphitheater, a total of 11,800. Her entire international tour is now sold out!
Her shows always have an intimate atmosphere, heartfelt lyrics, and colorful but not chaotic strobe lights making you feel at home. While performing, during several songs she plays piano on the same instrument that has followed her on every tour that she’s had- even to the stadiums with Taylor Swift.
Her fans also have their own dress code when attending her concerts. The Secret of Us’s concept centers around the color yellow, prompting her fans to dress to a theme; her concerts are a sea of girls wearing yellow shirts, skirts, and dresses. Since her early tours, it has become a thing amongst her fans (and herself) to wear bows. Almost all of the girls at her concerts have a bow in their hair, this time around, the bows being shades of yellow. Her fans are very sweet people who make you feel right at home as everyone screams their hearts out to her songs. One fan who attended one of her Greek Theatre performances in LA last week says, “I truly felt like I could just be myself without worrying about people judging me for loving music as much as I do.” All of her shows have a tangible welcoming aspect.
Abrams also makes a noticeable effort to interact with her fans as much as possible: waving to people in the crowd, taking the hands of the people who are in her reach, and taking selfies or recordings with phones that are held out to her while performing. Going to a Gracie Abrams concert is truly such an amazing and uplifting experience that everyone is sure to have a great time at.
