DIY Christmas Decorations

The holidays can often get pricey, especially if you have a long list of loved ones to get gifts for. Because of this, festive decorations often don’t fit into the budget. Luckily, there are several ways to spruce up your home that will not break the bank.

Peppermint Candle

What You Need:

  • Peppermint oil
  • Wax (Candle flakes)
  • Mason Jar
  • Red or white spray paint
  • Candle Wicks
  • Red food coloring(optional)

Instructions: Spray paint the mason jar with any color you want and let it dry for three hours. Glue the candlewick to the bottom of the mason jar. In a bowl, microwave the candle flakes until they are melted. Add four drops of red food coloring and three tablespoons of peppermint oil to the bowl. Mix together and add more food coloring until the desired shade is obtained. Pour the mixture into a mason jar and wrap the candlewick with a pencil so it can stay in place while the mixture is hardens. Leave the candle out to harden for five hours before use.

Reindeer Ornaments

What You Need:

  • Glue
  • Small Red Pom Poms
  • Googly eyes
  • Mini Burlap Triangles
  • Craft Twine or String
  • Mini Clothespins

Instructions: Glue the googly eyes to a red pom pom that will serve as the nose.Add two clothespins to use as antlers. Make a small loop out of twine or string, and make sure the loop is big enough to fit on your tree. Then, glue it on the back of the ornament.

Pretty Colored Pinecones

What You Need:

  • Pinecones (As many as you want)
  • Spray Paint (red, green, gold, white)
  • Gold and Silver Sparkles
  • Clear Glue
  • Water

Instructions: Spray paint each of the pinecones with a color, and let the paint dry for three hours. In a bowl, mix water, glue, and sparkles together. Drizzle the mixture on top of the pinecones to add a sparkle effect. Let them dry for 30 minutes. Place them around your house as decorations and to add a fresh smell.

Painted Pumpkin Snowman Family Activity

What You Need:

  • White paint
  • Colored buttons
  • A scarf
  • Hat
  • Medium and Large Pumpkin
  • Orange and Black sharpies
  • Glue

Instructions: Paint the pumpkins and let them sit for three hours. Place the medium pumpkin on top of the large pumpkin once they are dry. Super glue three buttons going down on the large pumpkin. Draw eyes and a carrot nose on the medium pumpkin. Last but not least, add a hat on top and wrap a scarf in between the medium and large pumpkin. Place it outside or inside your house. This can serve as a fun activity to do with your family or friends.
