Procrastination: Why?

Procrastination is more of an art form than it is a mistake.

When an individual is under the pressure of turning in an assignment, he/she will perform better because they will focus only on that assignment for the given amount of time….much like the procrastination that went into writing this article.

Procrastination can be seen in other places besides the classroom. For instance, someone could procrastinate going to the doctor for their check up–that’s when it can be a mistake.  Procrastinating is often a result of laziness, but even then you are still getting the work done!

So, is it really bad to procrastinate? As long as you end up finishing all of your assignments on time, how can it be bad? People procrastinate because they know they will perform better on an assignment if they have to do it at that very moment. If you have a week to do a project, it is likely you will be watching videos on your phone while doing it, therefore distracting you and lowering your performance. On the other hand, if it’s due tomorrow, and it’s already 9 o’clock at night, you’ll put everything aside and get it done.

In short, procrastination is much more a skill than it is a downfall. If you are able to produce quality work in a short amount of time, congratulations.
