Way to Early NBA Takes

After one of the most exciting off seasons ever, filled with stars moving and getting traded, bad teams becoming great and great teams becoming bad. The NBA world was turned on its head this off season and below are 10 take aways after the first week.

Take 1: The Clippers are most definitely the best team in the league, but not unbeatable.

A team that came from nowhere was the Clippers. In one weekend the Clips went from a fringe playoff team to the favorite to win it all, bringing in two all-NBA type players in Kwahi and Paul George while there roster stayed mostly the same. The depth and talent on both defense and offense are outstanding, but they are not unbeatable. There are ways to beat them but you need to play a near perfect game, unlike the Warriors who can beat a team in one quarter after losing the first three.

Lakers stars Lebron James and Anthony Davis

Take 2: The Lakers are good but flawed. The Lakers, headlined by the best duo in the league; Lebron and Anthony Davis, are going to be a very good team. Kyle Kuzma’s return will help this team tremendously but the team chokes in the fourth. Lebron taking an obvious backseat to Davis is a good thing. James is just to old to carry a team, but still good enough to be the best second option in the NBA. Bench pieces like Troy Daniels, Dwight Howard, and Quinn Cook make the team much better and Gerald Green is playing like an all-star. Lakers are going to be fine as soon as Kuzma comes back.

Take 3: The Mavs are quietly one of the best teams in the West.

A team lead by two European super-stars, Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, the Mavs will be the sleeper for this season. Through these first couple games, Doncic and Porzingis outscore AD and Lebron, and with a decent supporting cast, the Mavs are sneaky.

Take 4: The Sixers championship chances lay in the hands of Ben Simmons.

Philly may be one of the most exciting teams to watch just because of the youth in the roster mixed with veterans like Al Horford. The Sixers young stud point guard, Ben Simmons, is were the teams future lies. Embiid, if healthy, will give you 25 and 10 on a bad day but Simmons’s inability to shoot will be the end of this team come Summer. If Simmons figures out to shoot, there a contender, if he doesn’t they might not even make it out of the East.

Take 5: Mike Conley needs to figure his slump out, and fast.

The All-Star point guard for the Utah Jazz, has been held to an average of 10 points a game on 23%, yikes. Conley has been a point of emphasis on the Jazz’s inconsistent start. When Conley is on, they are a contender, when he’s off they get held to 86 points. If the Jazz want to really compete this year, Conley needs to find himself night in and night out.

Take 6: The Suns aren’t half bad

Most are not a fan of what the Suns have done with this team, and Phoenix is hugely wasting the great offensive talent of Devin Booker. Center Deandre Ayton had an underrated rookie year and looks poised to have a breakout year along with young and talented Kelly Oubre. The big thing is defense, take it from the 18-19 Lakers, defense is a little important. For this team, the playoffs are an absolute win, and they have a chance.

Take 7:  The King’s are very bad

Fans were big on Sacramento this year, but man, after a couple games they look BAD. Not normal bad, like Dwight Howard on the Lakers bad. Like Lonzo’s three point percentage bad. This team is young and talented buy boy do they look uninspired. The only players even playing are Buddy Hield, who is playing very well, and De’Aaron Fox on occasion. This shows that no matter how talented their team may be, Kings gonna Kings.

Warriors guards D’angelo Russell and Steph Curry

Take 8: The Warriors are a six or seven seed.

The Warriors are good but they are not the dynasty we have grown accustomed to. Still headed by Steph Curry, the Warriors are still a top ten team in the league, but not a top three or even top five team anymore. D’angelo Russell is good but a locker room nightmare, and Curry is great but he has nothing to work with other than Russell. The Warriors dynasty is over, but that’s probably for the better of the league.

Take 9: The East is the lesser conference again.

The East has been in the rear view mirror of the West for a while but now it’s really evident. The four best teams in the league (Clippers, Lakers, Nuggets, and Rockets) are all in the West and whoever comes out the East will be defeated by one of these teams. Also the Knicks and Hornets being in one conference just looks bad.

Take 10: Don’t take it to seriously.

The NBA is as much fun as it’s ever been especially with the fall of the Warriors; the league is wide open. So, no matter who you root for, just have fun and watch some of the best athletes in the world go head to head.
