How could 2020 get any worse? Well, you’re about to find out. A hurricane has been brewing, and it’s not your average small hurricane, this one is stronger than the famous Hurricane Katrina.

The massive hurricane made landfall Thursday morning with tremendous speeds, up to 150 miles per hour. “…maximum sustained winds of 150 mph. It quickly moved several miles inland to Lake Charles with triple-digit wind speeds. ” states the Lafayette Daily Advertiser.

Its strong winds made the hurricane go inland fast, and people weren’t prepared for the damage it would cause later on.

As the hurricane continued to destroy houses and properties, it killed 10 people, but the number is still climbing, with no end in sight. The hurricane is so bad that it left the entire east part of the state in ruins.

“At least 10 people are dead and the number is expected to continue to climb.” states the article.

A hurricane warning has taken effect from San Luis, Texas to Intracoastal, Louisiana, but since the warnings are to be issued 36 hours before the storm surge, it makes the evacuations and hurricane preparations difficult for the people living in the states affected. Texas storm warnings have extended to the rest of the Houston, Texas area, north of the Arkansas border. It also has gone into effect in South-central southeast Louisiana. It also states that it will also go into effect in the city of Ocean springs, Mississippi. The Hurricane watch extends to the North of Lufkin, Texas and the tropical storm watches extend as far north as the Interstate 20 corridor near Tyler, Texas.

A hurricane warning is now in effect from High Island, Texas, to Intracoastal City, Louisiana. This includes Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas, Lake Charles, Louisiana,” states the article.

Tropical storm warnings extend into the rest of the Houston metro area, parts of northeast Texas, northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas.stating that the Hurricane will move outside of Louisiana and Texas.

Hurricane Laura is supposed to reach Category 4, and it is starting to reach Category 2. It has already caused a lot of damage as a category 2 hurricane, who knows what will happen if it reaches category 4.

Laura will be a Category 4 hurricane as it moves inland through southwestern Louisiana early Thursday morning, with steady weakening.” the article states, showing that hurricane Laura will weaken shortly after it started.

People expect Hurricane Laura to reach Category 3 or Higher, prior to making landfall along Southwest Louisiana and upper Texas Wednesday night or Thursday morning. It is predicted that the hurricane will subside and deteriorate in these areas soon on Wednesday.
