Golden Globe Awards 2021

On Sunday February 28th, the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place starting at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on NBC. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are set to host the awards. This year, The Golden Globes decided to show some appreciation for frontline workers. For the first time in history, the award show will be inviting a number of both essential and frontline workers to attend the event, exclusively revealed by PEOPLE magazine. The Golden Globes also has a philanthropic partnership with the charity Feeding America. The Feeding America Network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger. Therefore, a limited number of food bank workers will also be invited to attend the show. The event will be broadcasted live coast-to-coast on Feb. 28.

Any audience members attending will be tested in advance for COVID-19. Spectators will also undergo various health screenings as well as temperature checks before entering the venues. Where the awards are held, social distancing guidelines will be enforced, as well as a strict rule of keeping guests from the same household seated together. In addition to the audience, production teams, crews, artists, and staff members, will also be required to undergo daily precautions such as health screenings and temperature checks prior to the event. The state and local governments are approving the awards, as long as health and safety protocols are enforced. Everyone attending will also be required to wear face masks and stay socially distanced with the exception of artists speaking on stage during the show. Lastly, there will also be COVID-19 compliance officers at the site of the show to ensure all safety measures are being properly followed.

Although safety precautions are still implemented, it is great news to hear that an award show as big as The Golden Globes is still being held. Anyone watching safely at home is able to stream the awards online. Some COVID-19 paranoid individuals may question the show being held, due to the mass amounts of people that will be attending. However, as long as safety measures are closely followed and the people at the venue are comfortable, everything should run smoothly. So, tune in next Sunday, February 28th to watch the 78th annual premiere of The Golden Globe awards!
