Kanye West’s newest album entitled Donda, is one of the most controversial albums of this year, with many either loving it or hating it.  What is catching most listeners’ attention is this bizarre intro track entitled “Donda Chant” which is a woman presumably doing an impression of Kanye’s mother saying the name “Donda” over and over again. The intro track is speculated by many to be Donda West’s (Kanye’s mother) last heartbeats which would make the track feel less like the ramblings of a washed-up star. Donda is Kanye’s tenth album and it is by far the longest album Kanye’s ever released, coming in at an hour and forty-eight minutes “which is longer than his last three albums combined.” Length of the album aside it feels as though that there was a fair amount of padding added to the album. Nobody needs twenty-seven songs in an album, it feels as though most of these songs were just filler used to lengthen the time of the album. Not counting all of the filler if you take a look through this album there are some real gems in there. Even considering how rushed it feels and how much it feels like it overstayed its welcome at times, it is a good album and I would highly recommend listening to it.
